Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been around for millennia. It focuses around the practice of acupuncture – the insertion of ultra fine needles into the skin at specifically determined points on the body. When needles puncture the skin, they create a microtrauma (small wound) which the body seeks to repair. It does so by stimulating collagen production and increasing blood flow to the area - delivering nutrients and oxygen to the skin while accelerating the elimination of waste. Facial enhancement acupuncture (FEA) is for anyone looking to maintain or regain a youthful appearance ie. to reduce the appearance of wrinkles; lessen puffiness and dark circles under the eyes; lift sagging skin; and improve muscle tone, skin complexion and texture.
Following a consultation, a personalized treatment plan is tailored to help reach your skincare goals. While variables such as stress, lifestyle, sleep patters and age all influence the final outcome, an average treatment course comprises 10-12 FEA sessions - administered once or twice a week. Follow-up treatments are encouraged to maintain results. There is no downtime or swelling post-treatment, although occasionally some clients may experience transient bruising at needling sites. FEA is NOT recommended for clients with hemophilia (or other bleeding disorders), immunodeficiency disorders or contagious skin disorders. If any other cosmetic procedures have been done in the two months prior to your FEA, kindly disclose and discuss with your doctor. FEA is also contraindicated during pregnancy.
